4 1. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Read all instructions and keep these safety instructions. Any type of misuse ofthe appliance may resultin a potential injury. In case ofany inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instructions, the manufacturer accepts no responsibility and the guarantee may notapply. The guarantee does notcover appliances thatdo notwork or do not work properly because they have notbeen maintained and/or descaled. INTENDED USE 1. This appliance is intended to be used in household only. CONDITIONS OF USE 11. Always use the appliance on a flat, stable, heatresistant surface away from sources ofheator water splashes. 12. Do notuse the appliance withoutthe drip tray and drip grid, exceptwhen a very tall mug is used. Do notuse the appliance for hotwater preparation. 13. Never turn the machine upside down. 14. We recommend using the NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto® capsules designed and tested for the NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto® machine. They were designed to interacttogether – the interaction provides the in-cup quality thatNESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto® is known for. Each capsule is designed to prepare a perfectcup, and cannotbe reused. 23. Do notremove hotcapsules by hand. Always use capsule holder handle to dispose ofused capsules. 24. Always insertthe capsule holder in the machine to prepare a beverage. The appliance will notwork ifthe capsule holder is notinserted. Do notpull outthe capsule holder before the indicator stops blinking. 25. Machines equipped with a locking handle: Scalding may occur ifthe locking handle is opened during the brewing cycles. Do notpull up the locking handle before the lights on the machine stop flashing. 26. For health reasons, always fill the water tank with fresh drinking water. 27. After use ofthe appliance always remove the capsule and clean the capsule holder. Empty and clean the drip tray and capsule bin daily. Food allergy sufferers mustrinse the appliance according to cleaning procedure.

Avoidcontactofthe descalingliquidwith any partofthe machine. Do notunplugthe machine duringdescaling! 1 Ifthe orange descalingindicator lightturns on, or the beverage comes outslower thanusual (evenindroplets), or ifitis cooler thanusual, the machine has to be descaled. 0.5 L L 2 Ifany, remove the water from the water tank. Mix 0.5liter offreshdrinkingwater withthe descaler inameasuring cup. Pour the descalingsolutioninto the water tank and insertthe water tank into the machine. 3 Openthe lockinghandle. Putthe rinsingtool into the capsule holder. Insertthe capsule holder into the machine. Close the lockinghandle. Place alarge empty container underneaththe coffee outlet. 4 To enter the descalingmode, selectXL andturnthe control ringfour times clockwise until the descalingLED starts blinking. 5 Press the start/stopbutton. The machine starts descaling. The volume display bar moves from the topdownto the 4th level. The machine descales withhotwater instart-stop operation. The machine stops descalingonce the water tank is empty. 18 6 To allow abetter descalingefficiency, the machine is on holdapproximately 2minutes. Refill the water tank withfreshdrinkingwater and insertitinto the machine. Place the container underneath the beverage outlet. 9 Press the start/stopbutton. The machine rinses continuously withhotwater. The volume display bar moves downuntil itdisappears. The machine stops rinsingonce the water tank is empty. 10 The descalingindicator turns off, the temperature selection blinks andturns steady redonce the machine is ready to use. 11 Remove the container. Empty andcleanthe container. Pull outthe capsule holder. Remove the rinsingtool. Keepitina safe place for later cleaningor descaling. Rinse bothsides ofthe capsule holder withfreshdrinkingwater. To do so, please follow the descalinginstructions. See 9. "‍ DESCALING AT LEAST EVERY3–4MONTHS" onpage 18. The beverage preparationstops partway duringthe delivery or does notstartatall. The volume display flashes atthe currentlevel. No liquidcomes out: The water tank may be empty. 1 Check ifthe water tank contains enoughfreshdrinking water. Ifnot, refill withfreshdrinkingwater andpress the start/stopbuttonto continue the preparation. Incase there is still no liquidcomingoutcheck 10.3"NO LIQUID COMES OUT – CAPSULEBLOCKED?". 10. 2 NO LIQUID COMES OUT – NO WATER?

No liquidcomes out: The capsule may be blockedandunder pressure. 1 Always keepthemachineupright!To stopthe preparation, press the start/stopbuttonagain. Do notunplugthe machine! 2 Do notdrink the coffee!Openthe lockinghandle. The machine releases pressure. Remove the capsule holder. Putthe usedcapsule inthe dustbin. 3 Try to operate the machine withoutcapsule. Ifthe water flows, itshows thatthe issue was withthe capsule. Just use adifferentcapsule.
