How to use your DYMO LetraTAG XR Getting started: your first label in six easy steps Step One - insert the batteries - Removethebatterycover(FigA) - InsertsixsizeAAalkalinebatteries,observingthe polaritymarkingsandclosethecover. - RemovethebatteriesiftheLetraTAGistoremain unusedforsometime. Step Two - insert the cassette OpenthecassettedoorInsertcassette(FigB).and gentlypressonthecentreofthecassetteuntilitclicks intoplace(FigC). Checkthecassetteiscorrectlypositionedbefore closingthecassettedoor. Step Three - switch on Presstheredbuttontoswitchon. Note:thelabelmakerswitchesoffautomaticallyafter 2minutesifnokeysarepressed. Step Four - type a label Typeasimplelabelfirsttotrythemachine.Learnmore aboutformattinginthefollowingpages. Step Five - Print your label Press “print”toprintyourlabel. Step Six - Cut the label Usethecutterbuttonontheright-handsideofthe LetraTagtocutthelabel(FigE) Congratulations ! You’ve just printed your first label ! Setting the language Settingthelanguagewilldefinewhichextra charactersyourLetraTAGcanprint,sothatyouhave fastaccesstotheaccentedcharactersorcurrency symbolsyouneedinyourlanguageorcountry.Itwill alsospecifythelanguageinwhicherrormessages appearonthedisplay. PressLANGUAGE( SHIFT + CAPS ).Anabbreviationof alanguagewillappear.UseQorR toscrollthrough thealphabeticallistoflanguageabbreviationsuntil youreachtheoneyourequire.Thenpress toselect. Ifyoumakeamistake,press DEL andthecursorwill deletethecharacterontheleftofthecurrentcursor position,and willmoveoneplacetotheleft. The CAPS keyisatogglekey.Pressittostarttypingin capitals.YouwillseetheCAPSindicatorishighlighted onthedisplay.Pressitagainwhenyouwanttodrop backtolowercase. The SPACE keyinsertsablankspacewithin yourlabel. Extra characters LetraTAGXRalsostoresalargenumberofextra characters(suchasotherlettersoraccentedletters).It usesRACEtechnology,likeamobilephonekeyboard. Ifyoutapthesamekeyrepeatedlywithinashorttime, youcanscrollthroughasequenceofcharactersbased onthatletter.Forexample,pressingtheEkeyrepeat- edlyintheFrench-languageversionwillscrollthrough e - é - è - ê - ë.Ifyouwaitformorethanonesecond, thecharacterwillbeselected,andthecursorwillmove ontothenextposition. Example: Typeatwice,andtheletteràappears.If youtap thekeyagainwithinonesecond,áwillappear. Pauseforasecond,andtheletteráwillbeselected, andthecursorwillmoveontothenextposition. Graphic symbols Youcanalsoinsertanumberofgraphicsymbols.To insertasymbol,pressSYMBOL( SHIFT + SPACE ) Thedisplaywillshow:A-I? Checking what you’ve typed Thedisplaywillshowsixcharactersofthetextyou havetyped,plusthecursor.ThePREVIEWfunction (press SHIFT + PRINT )willautomaticallyscroll throughentiretextofthelabel.Youcanalsoscroll manuallythroughthelabelusingthet and u keys. Ifyouwanttoeditthelabel,usethet andt keys tomovethecursorthroughthetexttotheplaceyou want,thentypeordelete. Adding a break between two labels The--ll-- function(SHIFT+D) isa‘labelbreak’.Youcan usethistoendonelabel’stextandstartanother. Storing text: the text buffer Youcanstoreupto70charactersinthetextbuffer ofyourLetraTAGXR,inasmanyas20labels.These characterswillremaininthebuffer,evenifyouswitch off. Ifyoutrytotypewhenthetextbufferisfull,the messageERROR 4willappear.Youwillthenhave deletepartorallofthetextinthebufferinorderto makeanewlabel. Youcanquicklymovetothebeginningofthebufferby pressing<<( SHIFT +t). Gototheendofthe bufferbypressing >>( SHIFT +u). Todeletetheentirecontentsofthebuffer,press CLEAR( SHIFT + DEL ) Formatting labels You can use a wide range of formatting options to change the font style in your printed label, such as font size, bold, italic, boxed, vertical etc. The way you format these characters is shown by a combination of indicators above the text display. Display indicators STYLE B CAPS 123 Thereare6displayindicators.Whenoneormoreof theseindicatorsishighlighted,itshowstherelevant formattingoptionisactive: CAPS: Charactersaretypedascapitalletters Thelabelwillbeprintedunderlinedorina certaintypeofbox. Style Thelabelwillbeprintedinacertain selectedtextstyle. B ThelabelwillbeprintedinBigFontsize. 123 Numbersareselectedinsteadofthe characters.
